Avie's Corner

When I started designing my girls shared room, I knew two things for absolute certain.
There had to be a paneled wall. ( It was a necessity ) and pink. Possibly in every shade possible. Ha!

I wanted to create a room full of whimsy and magic, with room to grow and play. I wanted to incorporate a nod to vintage, but also have modern design elements all combined into one cohesive space.

I always find myself gravitating to white as a base. Do you find that you lean towards one colour over all? Well, whatever colour this may be, it will be a great base to start with.
We live in a small coastal inspired home, so white becomes the base oh so naturally.
And paneled walls? C'mon, need I say more. I would completely drench my home in them top to bottom if I had the chance! I love the 'cabin like' feel and coziness they add to a space.

So we had a start. White, panels and pink. Not in yo face pops of pink, no.
Just soft and subtle hues, in dusty shades reminiscent of earthy tones.

Next came countless hours of me drawing up numerous layouts and floor plans to make sure everything could fit!
I decided not to put both beds at one end of the room, which although is quite a traditional and beautiful way to design, it limited the floor space that the girls would have to play.
The end design created two cohesive zones for my girls. One end of the room for Avie ( age 7), and the other for Willow ( age 3).

Pink Checks Forever!

I've always had a weakness for gingham on kids. There's a sweet country chic about it along with the fact that for some reason, it keeps my sweet girl looking just that little bit younger!
Whoops! I mean, would I do that?
Yes I totally would.
So when I find one at a great price, and that is beautiful quality, well...that's just a no brainer!

This sweet little dress, cardi and shoes are all from Marks and Spencer.  They have a great selection of  children's wear. You are guaranteed to find beautiful staple pieces for your little loves.
Go on, check em out!
